So yesterday was a big day for the London Olympics. And by big day, I mean there was a lot of women's soccer to watch.

None of the channels broadcasted the entirety of either games. This sucks for the following reasons:

1. The Americans were playing North Korea. NORTH KOREA. Two of the most misunderstood countries in the world. You know there was gonna be some TV-worthy drama.
2. The Canadians achieved a tie game with the Tier 1, 4th ranked team in the world.
3. The Swedish team are really beautiful.
4. Melissa Tancredi played the best game of her life.
5. It was raining during USA/Korea DPR game. As in, all the girls were soaked. As in, wet women on my television screen? YES PLEASE.

OK, since I mentioned wet women, I can't really just leave you hanging and not include pictures of them. So here.

I notice that a lot of these photos are of Megan Rapinoe, Alex Morgan and Abby Wambach. It's not like I'm being biased towards these players (although that is a part of it somewhat sometimes). I think they're just the most photographed. USWNT won over Korea DPR 1-0.

On the CanWNT/Sweden end, the first half was all Sweden and the second half was all Canada. Hammarström and Jakobssen scored for Sweden. On the Canadian end, it was all her:

Yes, Melissa Tancredi is on fucking fire, scoring two goals to give Canada the tie against one of the best teams in the world. Since this tie was technically impossible to achieve, Tancredi is technically already a national hero. In addition, with four goals under her belt, she is currently the highest scoring soccer player at the London Olympics (including the men. Moussa Konate, the highest scoring male, has four goals himself).

Seriously, if that doesn't get her groupies, I don't know what will.

Here are more pictures of some of the action from that game:

One of the Tanc goals also resulted in one of the best hugs in women's soccer history. A million different angles of this hug have been captured, and tears spilled everywhere all across the country when this happened.

We're in the quarter-finals, people. The tables have turned.

canWNT plays Great Britain.
USWNT plays New Zealand.
Friday, August 3rd.
